Training Stars
On the horses home page, hovering your mouse over "View Growth" will display the graph shown. In this example, the overall is about 90% green, indicating that this horse is almost fully mature and has just 10% growth remaining.
  • Growth and Maturity are the same thing and are used interchangeably.

  • Overall growth is considered to be the most important factor, more so than growth on a particular going. This means that 10% "Overall" growth is worth more than 10% growth on "Fast" for example

  • Horses will also improve with ground growth, but not as much as with "Overall" growth.

  • With more growth, your horse will run faster.

  • Growth is different for different horses. For example a jump in growth from 40% to 60% may improve horse A by 0.6 seconds but horse B may just improve 0.2 seconds.

Maturity
This is the graph for a yearling. NO overall bar is displayed. This will show when the horse turns 2 at the start of the season
  • Growth increases vary, horse A may jump from 30% to 40% for example, while horse B may jump from 30% to 50%.

  • Growth increases can occur at any time during the season.

  • The number of growth increases is not set and can vary from horse to horse.

  • Horse A may have 4 growths to reach 100% while horse B may take 5 growth increases.

  • Horses bought in the sales ring often start with a higher percentage level of maturity compared to homebred horses

  • Some horses will reach full maturity within a season

  • It is not unusual for a homebred horse to start on 20% or 30%.

  • It is not unusual for a sales ring horse to start on 50%.

You can use this image to put a number to the overall maturity bar.
  • Use the text in the phrase " Ability to Max".

  • For Example, with the green bar just at the end of the "A" of "max", then assume 60% maturity.

  • The green bar lines up with the "Y" of "Ability" Assume 20% growth., etc. etc.
